This lot includes all four issues of Before Watchmen: Rorschach (2012), a complete noir-style mini-series written by Brian Azzarello with gritty, photorealistic art by Lee Bermejo. Set in 1977 New York City, the series follows Walter Kovacs as he wages a brutal, solo war against crime and corruption in a decaying cityscape.

Through blood-soaked alleyways and seedy streets, Rorschach investigates a serial killer known as Rawhead, while navigating run-ins with pimps, gangs, and the NYPD. Bermejo’s hyper-detailed illustrations capture the psychological weight and violence of Rorschach’s worldview, while Azzarello’s hard-boiled writing digs deep into his descent. A raw and disturbing portrait of the man behind the mask.
