What started as an idea in the summer of 2025, South Street Auctions came to fruition in March of 2026. Operating from a 5000sq ft warehouse in Beacon New York, South Street Auctions serves as an annex to the long time standing auction house "Hudson Valley Auctioneers". With over 40 years of experience in the antique business, These two operations will work in harmony to bring one of the most dynamic marketplaces available in the Hudson Valley!

Bidder Beware: You can't trust this place to list an item accurately accurately.

I purchased a fly rod from South Street listed as a specific model. When I received the rod, it was not what they claimed in the listing. I called Scott, the auction contact, to let him know that the rod was materially misrepresented in the auction listing, and suggested a partial refund, being that the item now had no collectable value.

Scott refused a partial refund, saying that he had already paid the consigner and that "they sell a lot of stuff and can't be experts on everything they sell."

That sentiment should be of particular concern for anyone considering a purchase from this auction house. South Street Auctions are not willing to do complete research, they do not stand behind their item descriptions, and -- at least according to Scott -- that's something they accept as their standard mode of business.

When I told him I thought that a partial refund was really the right thing to do here, he said he'd talk to his partner, and then completely ghosted me. Scott, if you're reading this, when you describe something as a specific model, it's at that point you're taking on the responsibility. Wish you guys had done the right thing.

During that conversation, you also acknowledged that this was something neither of us had noticed before the auction ended. rnrnI do my best to photograph and describe every item accurately, but auction purchases are ultimately based on the bidder’s own evaluation of the item, including condition, authenticity, and value. Our auction starting bids typically start at 10$ for this reason, and bidders are encouraged to ask questions before placing their final bids.rnrnUnfortunately, we were not able to agree to the partial refund you requested. While we understand your disappointment that the item may not have turned out to be as valuable as you had hoped, a difference in a buyer’s post-sale assessment of value does not automatically warrant a partial refund.rnrnWe appreciate your feedback and hope this explanation provides some helpful context for both you and our future bidders. Pickup - Items are to be picked up during "PICK UP TIMES ONLY". We ARE NOT a holding center. We offer a 2-day pickup window for your convenience. DO NOT call asking to hold items. If you can't make it during our scheduled times, you can either call to have your item shipped or send someone in your place to pick up your winnings. DO NOT BID if you can't make arrangements. Items that are still left on the table after we close will be forfeited. No exceptions.

In-House Shipping - Select the alternate pickup/shipping option after the close of the auction. This signifies to us that you want your item shipped. Preparation of packages start the very next day after close. Package pricing is determined by the boxes SIZE and WEIGHT (USPS) + 10$ S/H. We use recycled boxes and materials to keep the shipping cost down for small items. Medium and larger sized items such as Art and combined orders require more care and a precise box. Those orders require an additional 5$ box fee. Selecting your item to be shipped and showing up in person for pickup is not tolerated. If you made a mistake by clicking the wrong button, I need you to text me immediately. If your package is wrapped and you show up to pickup, you are committed to paying the 10$ S/H fee. Refusal to pay will result in your account being blocked from future auctions. Payment for shipping is done over the phone "DURING OUR PICKUP HOURS". Once we have your shipping cost totaled, I will call you for payment. We require a CREDIT CARD# for our POS system. Please make yourself available for my call. If you can't be reached by phone, text, or email from the close of the auction to the end of pickup. Your order will be forfeited.

3rd Party Shipping - As we try to accommodate most orders for in-house shipping, certain items such as stacks of dishes, glassware, or large pieces of art will have to be shipped 3rd party. We use UPS for larger, heavier, delicate, and odd shaped items. If your planning to bid on something and are unsure about shipping, send me a text. I will let you know if we're equipped to ship it. Instructions for 3rd party shipping are as followed... After the close of the auction, Simply call the UPS store 845-454-3505 and schedule a pickup during our pickup hours. It has to be done the day after the close of the auction so our shipper can collectively grab everything together. I'm always around to assist so if you have questions, please reach out.
