Flynn's Estate Sales was born out of a simple question that kept popping up in homes across Central Maine: "How do I get rid of all this stuff?" As a Realtor with a deep appreciation for vintage treasures and the stories they carry, Flynn saw firsthand how overwhelming it could be for homeowners to downsize, relocate, or settle an estate.
What started as a passion for old furniture, quirky collectibles, and timeless design quickly evolved into a full-service estate sale company with heart. We specialize in helping families navigate the emotional and logistical challenges of letting go—whether it's a lifetime of belongings or a barn full of forgotten finds.
At Flynn's, we believe every item has a story, and every home deserves a thoughtful transition. From organizing and staging to pricing and promotion, we handle the details so you can focus on what matters most. Whether you're clearing out a loved one's estate or just making space for the next chapter, we're here to make the process smooth, respectful, and even a little fun.

I highly recommend Flynn's Estate Sales! Everything was extremely organized at pick up so it was super efficient and quick. I had no trouble finding the home because of excellent signage. They also had a few people handling check in, so I didn't have to wait. I've had other online estate sale auction pick up experiences before and this was definitely the best one.

Flynn's Estate Sales is here to help liquidate possessions through many of life's transitions.

I have never placed a bid in an online estate sale. What can I expect?
Online estate sales, with a pickup day, are becoming increasingly common. By hosting an auction online, users can bid from the comfort of their home, or wherever they are. There is no waiting outside in a line of dozens to hundreds of people, hoping that no one nabs the one item you came for. Users can often see the demand for the item, in real time, allowing you a greater chance of obtaining. Please note that is very important before placing bids to pay attention to the pickup day, time, and the town that it is in (address will be released to winning bidders after the auction ends).
For sellers, the benefits of an online estate sale may include more privacy as you do not have your home open to the public for multiple days, instead having a pickup day. There is also the potential to fetch more market-value for the auctioned items instead of predetermined prices. Each way has their pros and cons but we have found that structuring our auction this way can be less intrusive during what can already be a difficult transition. For more information on how this process works, please contact us.
What is a Buyer's Premium?
A buyer's premium is an extra fee added to the final bid price (also called the hammer price) at an auction. It’s often standard practice in the auction industry and is paid by the winning bidder. The buyer's premium goes directly to the auction house to help cover things like staffing, marketing, and logistical expenses.
Can I make arrangements to pick up my items outside of the pickup time?
Unfortunately, no. We cannot accommodate other pickup times as we are often working around the home's closing date or other obligations our sellers may have. If you are unable to make the designated pickup time, you are welcome to send a friend of family member on your behalf.
What if I do not pickup my items?
If you do not pickup your items, your item is considered forfeited. There are no refunds or exchanges. The item will likely be donated or disposed of. If a bidder repeatedly is a no-show for their items at pickup, their bidding privileges may be deactivated.
What if I don't like my item when I pick it up?
We hope this doesn't happen! We do our best to describe items in their entirety, flaws included. We also try to use a measuring tape when possible. However, these items are preowned. Please expect some overall wear and tear. If you have questions about an item, we encourage you to ask questions before bidding. If it is found that we have severely misrepresented an item in our photographs or descriptions, you may be eligible for a refund.
Why was I immediately outbid?
There is a feature when inputting bids on Auction Ninja called "Max Bid". This allows bidding users to input the maximum amount they are willing to pay for an item, similar to if you called your local in-person auction house and placed an absentee bid up to a certain amount. Auction Ninja will bid on your behalf up to the inputted amount.
Please keep in mind that in the event that a user places a bid that matches another user's max bid, the person who placed the initial max bid is considered the current high bidder.
Why did the timer reset at the end of the auction?
Towards the end of the auctions, you will notice that each item has a countdown of minutes and seconds until the item closes. Auction Ninja does "soft closings" on items auctioned through their platform. This means that if an item is bid on in the last five minutes of the countdown, the timer resets back to five minutes, continuing this until no more bids are placed. This can be frustrating as it can seem like the item is continuously being reset and never ending. However, it can also allow more time for users to place competing bids.
Do you offer shipping?
We offer shipping on some smaller items, but not everything. If an item is eligible, it will be noted in the item's details. There should also be a small shipping box icon in the corner of the item's main picture. If you are looking to have an eligible item shipped, please select "shipping" as the pickup option. We will ship within 1-2 weeks of the auction's scheduled pickup. Shipping rates will be calculated based on the size, weight, and packaging requirements. There will also be a handling fee charged to the card on file with Auction Ninja to assist in covering the costs of the labor and packing materials for the item(s). The handling fees will range from $10- $20 based on the package size and weight.
We prefer to use USPS to ship but will use whatever carrier is the most cost efficient. If you need additional insurance, rush delivery, custom packaging, etc. please reach out and we will provide a quote for the needed services.

A NOTE ABOUT EXTENDED BIDDING ("Soft Close") Flynn's Estate Sales online auctions feature extended bidding (a.k.a. "soft close"). Is the closest way to mimic the actions of an auctioneer (in a live auction) in an online/automated format. During a live auction, the auctioneer gives bidders opportunities to increase their bids before hammering the winning bid (when there is no further interest in the lot). Our online, automated system will automatically extend the closing time of a lot (auction item) whenever a bid is placed within the last five minutes of its scheduled closing to allow other interested bidders an opportunity to increase their bid (if the wish to do so). This may occur multiple times on any given lot depending on bidder interest. Once all interest and bidding in a lot ceases, the clock will run out and the lot will close.
