RARE Opportunity -- The Polish American Artist was often described as an "experimental realist" or "motion painter and sculptor" in his early career, with a style that blended sculpture and painting in dynamic ways. His work frequently drew inspiration from music, nature, and the human form (particularly celebrating natural beauty and women's figures). As a sculptor, he was known for using found materials and creating expressive, organic pieces—often incorporating wood, bronze, or mixed media in later works.
In the 1960s, Tomaszewski emigrated to the United States, where he lived and worked for over five decades (primarily in Connecticut). He continued producing sculptures, paintings, and other artworks, with pieces appearing in galleries, auctions, and exhibitions. His sculptures often featured dynamic animal forms (like eagles or horses) and figurative elements, sometimes using patinated bronze or reclaimed wood for a textured, naturalistic effect.
Tomaszewski passed away on November 15, 2018, in Connecticut at the age of 95. His legacy endures through museum collections (including pieces at the Warsaw Rising Museum), gallery representations (such as Wolfs Fine Paintings and Sculpture or Van Rij Gallery in Kraków), and ongoing interest in his porcelain designs and fine art sculptures. He is remembered as a talented, ambitious creator who bridged Polish post-war modernism with American contemporary art.
