A wonderful solid bronze figure of a Bactrian camel [double hump], created in a small edition by the Metropolitan Museum of Art/MMA. The museum created a small number of them in conjunction with the original ancient sculpture being placed on exhibit in 1953, from a private collection. The original was unearthed in the early 20th century in Bactria-Margiana, and estimated to be between 4000-5000 years old. This sculpture was only sold in the museum's shop, and was quite expensive back then, made in exacting standards to perfectly represent the original. If you research it, VERY few of these sculptures have been available for sale. It is 72 years old, with a mellow, aged patina. Solid bronze, so quite heavy despite scale. Condition is very good.
