Frederick Tibbenham classic Federal-style mahogany kneehole desk, England, mid-20th century. A finely made traditional writing table executed in solid mahogany with restrained Federal detailing and elegant proportions.
The rectangular top above an arrangement of seven drawers—three across the frieze and two over two flanking the kneehole—each fitted with brass swan-neck pulls and round paterae-style escutcheons. The case is raised on slender, tapered legs terminating in spade feet, with paneled sides and a shaped gallery back featuring document compartments.
The rich reddish-brown mahogany displays attractive grain and a warm hand-rubbed finish typical of Tibbenham workshop production.
