A VERY rare sword, manufactured by TIFFANY & CO. [yes, that Tiffany] for usage in the Civil War by Union cavalry soldiers/officers. It is a large sword, referred to during the war as a 'wrist-breaker' because of its' scale. Whereas most cavalry swords had brass guards, TIFFANY made them out of stainless steel. Shagreen wrapping is present on the grip, with remnants of original wire wrapping. Scabbard is present. The blade is tipped, which likely happened during the war [old loss]. Scabbard has surface wear and several soft dents. Tiffany made very few swords. Highly sought after by collectors.
