Antique Christian Becker Chainomatic Analytical Balance Glass Case C.18901910

This is a late-19th to early-20th century laboratory analytical balance by the respected German maker Christian Becker, housed in its original glazed mahogany case.

Type: Analytical “Chainomatic” chemical balance with twin pans and central beam.

Maker: Christian Becker (New York / later partnership with Becker & Sons; originally founded in Germany).

Rectangular mahogany and glass draft-shield cabinet with lift-off or sliding access panels to prevent air disturbance during weighing.
Precision beam with knife-edge pivots and suspension chains (“Chainomatic” system allowing fine fractional weight adjustment).
Two brass pans suspended from stirrups.
Central column with rider/chain adjustment and leveling screws.
Base: Plinth base with front drawer for fractional weights and riders; ivory/bone-tipped knobs and brass hardware.
