Item Description

Pair of US Military framed black & white photographs, one picturing soldiers from NY National Guard 108th Infantry Group c.1928, out of Camp Smith which is located in Westchester County NY. Wonderful photo showing their encampment even includes the camp cooks! Nice clear image, original art deco framing measuring 20" by 12" in size while the 2nd photo depicts the legendary US Marine 1st Engineers Combat Battalion stationed at Camp Joseph Pendleton in California, taken on the 2nd of September, 1950, just days before this battalion participated in the Inchon Landing in Korea on Sept 15, 1950, one of the most famous actions of the Korean war. This is a photo that should give a military historian or affectionado the chills, because the men photographed here, likely just before departure, many of them didn't make it home. They are Marine heroes, all of them! On the back of the frame the name of one of these servicemen is indicated, one Dick Albright, who was assigned inactive duty status in Jan, 1953. This framed image measures 26.5" x 12.75" in size. Kind of roughly framed obvious this was the frame they could find at the time for the photo.
