Tranquil Farm Animals Painting

The subdued palette and atmospheric lighting suggest a (mid–late 1800s). The subject matter, humble farm animals in a tranquil rural setting, was popular in Dutch, French and British painting traditions. The heavy gilded frame also resembles late 19th-century framing styles.
 Black paper was removed to reveal what appears to be an antique frame. We are unable not locate a signature.
