Original WWII-era paper ephemera associated with the 97th Division Occupation Area in Japan, dated October 1945. One side features a typed battalion newsletter with period reporting and commentary, while the opposite side shows a hand-drawn map of central Honshu (Tokyo–Yokohama region), including a circled location annotated in ink (“where I am now, dear”), adding a strong personal, firsthand element.
Notably, the same sheet was later reused decades afterward: the reverse also bears an American Legion Convention cartoon dated 1980, indicating the original wartime paper was retained and repurposed rather than representing a contemporary WWII date. This kind of practical reuse is commonly encountered in veteran-kept materials.
Measures 8" x 13.
Condition: Antique/vintage condition with expected age-related wear, including toning, folds, edge wear, stains, and handling marks. Please review images carefully for details.
