Antique Japanese Scholar Netsuke - Signed

Original Japanese netsuke depicting an elderly scholar or sage holding a staff, carved in a creamy bone .
The figure is finely modeled with expressive facial features, long beard, and engraved robe decoration highlighted with reddish pigment. The reverse shows two himotoshi (cord holes), confirming its use as a functional netsuke. Likely late 19th to early 20th century. Signed on bottom.
Measures 2", weight 27.3".
