Item Description

Old Japanese cast-iron water kettle featuring raised calligraphic characters around the body and a hand-forged swing handle. The piece has a wonderful aged patina with surface wear and oxidation consistent with its age and use. Lid is missing. Interior shows rust as expected for antique iron vessels.
Likely Meiji–Taishō period (late 19th–early 20th century).
Measures 5" with handle down.
