Early printed volume containing Moses and Aaron (1662) by Thomas Godwyn, bound together with Romanae Historiae Anthologia Recognita et Aucta (1661), forming a substantial 17th-century antiquarian work on Hebrew rites and Roman antiquities.
Printed in London (1661–1662), this edition features period typography, decorative headpieces, and an index with Latin and Greek text. The book is presented in an early full leather binding that has been professionally rebacked, with a later gilt-lettered spine reading “Godwyn’s Antiquities.” The original boards are retained, showing age, wear, and patina consistent with its period.
Interior includes marbled endpapers (likely later), a 19th-century handwritten ownership inscription dated December 14, 1859 (Cincinnati, Ohio), and a bookseller label for George A. Simonds & Co., Washington, D.C.
Measures 6.5" x 6" 2.5".
Condition: Re-backed spine with original boards; covers worn with scuffs and edge wear. Pages show toning, scattered staining, edge wear, and some damp staining (notably toward rear index). Occasional small tears and handling wear consistent with age. Binding solid and text generally legible.
