Paul Signac (1863-1935) was a prominent figure of the neo-impressionism movement. He is widely recognized as the master of watercolor and devoted the last fifteen years of his life to this genre. During this period, he mainly focused on painting the sea.
Being a sailor at heart, Paul Signac owned 32 boats during his lifetime. He started painting the port of St-Tropez from 1892, and often painted on the motif aboard his boat.
The artwork is an original watercolor painted by him in 1899, and it is signed and located in the lower left. It comes with an authenticity certificate.
The artwork is beautifully framed in a gilt frame measuring 17.5" x 15.5". The size of the artwork itself is 4.60" x 6.73".
