Item Description

A drachm coin issued in the name of Alexander the Great or his successor Lysimachus, set within a custom gold bezel.
Coin Details:
- Obverse (front): The side shown in your image is actually the reverse. It depicts Zeus enthroned, holding an eagle in his right hand and a scepter in his left.
- Reverse (other side): The obverse displays a profile of Heracles wearing a lion skin headdress. Some scholars believe the Heracles image resembles Alexander.
- Inscriptions: Greek lettering, partially visible to the right of Zeus, generally spells "AΛEΞANΔPOY" (of Alexander).
These coins were minted during Alexander's reign across his empire and continued to be produced by his successors long after his death.
Total weight: 8.3 grams.
