Shogo Okamoto was born in Tokyo and received his diploma from Tokyo Art College. During the 1960s and 1970s, he rose to prominence within the community of modern Japanese artists, earning numerous accolades and hosting solo exhibitions throughout Tokyo. Okamoto's preferred printing technique was etching, and his oeuvre is dominated by landscapes, with an emphasis on trees. Unlike his contemporaries, Okamoto's depictions of trees were characterized by their realism and lack of idealization. Typically, the artist produced editions of approximately 100 prints.
