A masterwork of mid-century Japanese craft tradition, this exquisite nihon ningyo doll emerges from the Showa era in remarkable condition — a testament to decades of careful keeping. Her gofun head bears hand-painted features of quiet precision: defined brows, crimson lips, and dark eyes that carry the stillness of a bygone atelier. The layered kimono is a tour de force of textile artistry — vibrant red silk brocade adorned with multi-colored floral and geometric patchwork panels, underlaid with teal and orange fabrics that bloom at hem and sleeve. The bold ichimatsu-patterned obi, woven in black-and-white checkerboard with metallic accents, anchors the composition with striking authority. A traditional shimada updo, dressed with gold and red kanzashi ornaments, completes the figure with ceremonial elegance. The original box — bearing a Japanese kanji label and a maker's wooden placard — survives intact, its light aging only deepening the provenance. Presented on a black lacquered wooden stand. A distinguished collector's acquisition from Japan's golden age of doll-making craft.
