An English Arts & Crafts walnut cheval mirror designed by Arthur Simpson of Kendal, dating to circa 1900. The arched rectangular frame encloses a conforming bevelled mirror plate and is supported on pivoting columnar uprights, allowing for adjustable tilt. The uprights terminate in small top shelves, adding both function and architectural interest. The piece stands on a trestle base fitted with casters, combining practicality with the refined craftsmanship typical of Simpson’s work. The walnut displays a warm, rich tone with visible grain throughout.
Condition:
Good overall condition consistent with age and use. Minor surface wear and small marks to the wood. Mirror plate appears clear with no significant issues visible. Structurally sound and functional.
