An Anglo-Japanese rosewood writing desk by the Bombay Art Furniture Company, London, dating to circa 1880. The desk features a mirrored superstructure with a central looking glass flanked by open shelves and two small drawers beneath a slanted display ledge. The writing surface is fitted with a rectangular leather inset, above a central drawer and flanked by two drawers on each side, all with decorative brass pulls. The base is supported on square legs joined by a lattice shelf stretcher at the rear, terminating in brass caps and casters. The rosewood displays rich figuring and warm tones, characteristic of the Anglo-Japanese aesthetic combining British craftsmanship with Eastern design influence.
Condition:
Good overall condition consistent with age and use. Minor surface wear and marks to the wood and leather writing surface. Mirror plates appear intact. Structurally sound.Damage to rear left leg as shown in photos
