Item appears to be a Japanese Type 30 bayonet, which was the standard bayonet for the Imperial Japanese Army from its introduction in 1897 until the end of World War II in 1945.
Key Features
Design: It is a single-edged sword bayonet with an overall length of around 20 inches and a blade of approximately 16 inches.
Hooked Quillon: The bayonet in the image features a distinct J-shaped hooked quillon, a characteristic of early models produced before 1942, when the feature was eliminated to save materials.
Grip: It has two-piece wooden grips held by screws, and a bird's head shaped pommel with a catch release button.
Variations & Markings: The Type 30 was produced in numerous variations by different arsenals and contractors. Specific manufacturer and inspection marks (often on the ricasso, the flat area at the base of the blade) and serial numbers (typically on the pommel) can help identify the exact manufacturer and production era.
Usage: It was primarily designed for use with the Type 30, Type 38, and Type 99 Arisaka rifles, and also used with some light machine guns.
