Authenticity and Rarity: Generally credited with producing the first practical stamp vending machine, Joseph Schermack introduced his "profit-sharing" models in the early 1900s, later forming the Sanitary Postage Service Corporation in 1926. This specific double machine, likely from the 1920s-1940s era, is a seldom-offered find.
Design and Features: The dispenser is constructed of thick metal with a sturdy cast iron bottom. It features two separate vending mechanisms: one offering "3 STAMPS FOR A DIME" and the other "4 STAMPS FOR A NICKEL". The front face panels are painted metal, typical for this model.
Condition and Display: This piece shows a charming patina and light signs of wear commensurate with its age, adding to its authentic vintage appeal. It serves as a fantastic conversation starter and a great display piece for a game room, office, or collection of bygone-era items.
Provenance: Similar machines have been sold at auction and are highly sought after by collectors.
