Hungarian-born Gross was an internationally-reknown sculptor and teacher whose work is in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of Art, The Smithsonian Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Hirshhorn Museum among many other notable institutions. After migrating to NY, he worked with the WPA, leading to commissions from The 1939 Worlds Fair and 1932 Summer Olympics. Gross' lithographs of women in interiors, the circus, and vaudeville were legendary—we are proud to offer this original sketch of an acrobatic Mother and Child, in mid flight ...held aloft by nothing but their trust in one another.
