Item Description

This is very nice unsigned copy of a painting titled "Ashore" by British artist John Drummond from the late 1800s. This is a popular antique subject - there are many versions of this portrait of a sea captain next to his boat smoking a clay pipe. Very nice rendering, painting is in over all very good condition with one small spot of paint loss, see photos. Simple oak frame with contrast trim is also in good condition. Painting appears to be antique, but it is not signed or dated. Style: Newlyn (Cornish) School, 19th Century.
