Stunning Nautical Painting By Glusing

This is a gorgeous and dramatic painting signed "Francis Glusing" (German 1886-1956) in overall very good condition. Features a gorgeously rendered schooner at sail with dramatic lighting in the sky and the ocean, Glusing was a master at rendering light and this painting shows that. Overall crackling to the paint, but no paint loss. Colors vibrant and there does not appear to be any age-related discoloration. Signature at the lower right somewhat indistinct. Lovely gold toned frame. Note: Crackling is in the water and ship, but the paint in the sky is all in excellent condition.

Fränzis Glüsing (actually, Martin Franz Glüsing) was born in 1885 in Hamburg and died around 1956. Glusing was a German marine painter. He was based in Finkenwerder. First, a naval officer, then a successful marine painter in Hamburg. He had professional knowledge and sea experience. He was known for his painterly treatment of the light effects and vibrating waves. He signed his work with "Fräncis-Glüsing".
