Item Description

A standout group of three original San Francisco hotel luggage labels, each showcasing bold graphic design and travel prestige from the golden age of American tourism, circa early 20th century. Together, these labels capture the romance of long-distance journeys, grand lobbies, uniformed doormen, and a city welcoming the world.

Included in the group are striking examples from the Hotel Whitcomb, the legendary Palace Hotel, and the Drake–Wiltshire Hotel, all prominent destinations in San Francisco’s historic downtown hotel scene. The trio offers a wonderful mix of styles: a circular architectural graphic, a richly illustrated doorman scene, and an elegant typographic label with graceful script.

All three labels appear unused, an increasingly rare survival considering these were meant to be affixed to trunks and suitcases and discarded with travel. Each is presented in its own complementary frame, creating an instant, ready-to-hang collection with strong visual cohesion.

An excellent grouping for collectors of travel ephemera, San Francisco history, or early American graphic design.
