PAL (JEAN DE PALÉOLOGUE, 1860-1942) NEW-HOWE. 1895.
57 3/4x41 1/2 inches, 147x106 cm. Paul Dupont, Paris.
Some foxing spots and a small tear in top margin. Otherwise amazing for its age, bright colors.
A young lady, dressed as a Spanish torero is inexplicably pictured astride a Scottish-manufactured bicycle. In Paris in the 1890s, artists and bicycle companies strove to outdo each other in the ingenuity, and seeming surrealism of their advertising.
