Item Description

engraving of Albert Pike (1809–1891), an American attorney, poet, and a prominent figure in Freemasonry.
He was a significant leader in the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, serving as Sovereign Grand Commander of the Southern Jurisdiction for over three decades.
Pike was also a controversial figure known for his service as a Confederate brigadier general during the U.S. Civil War, the only Confederate general to have an outdoor statue in Washington, D.C. (which was removed in 2020).
He is the author of the influential Masonic book Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
The text at the bottom of the image includes his name and title: "G. Com. Supreme Council of 33d Degree Southern Jurisdiction of U.S."
