Q&A with Annie

AN: How would you describe your style?

ALB: Vintage bohemian. My husband and I live by the water, but you won’t find any “this way to the beach” signs. I prefer subtly nautical touches, like wicker, rattan, and hits of blue. That’s what inspired my “summer entertaining” auction picks.

AN: What sparked your love for secondhand and vintage items?

ALB: I have loved secondhand shopping ever since my mom took me (frequently) to our local consignment store growing up. My love for vintage grew when I lived in Brooklyn and spent my Saturdays at L Train Vintage. Now, I’m simply too spoiled to pay full price for things.

AN: What are the items you always find yourself being drawn to?

ALB: Jadeite, trays, jewelry catch-alls, and wicker baskets.

AN: What’s your favorite AuctionNinja find?

ALB: Our kitchen table, a retro-inspired diner booth, which I nabbed for $150.

AN: Any tips/advice for AuctionNinja newbies?

ALB: Set an alarm! I’ll save things I want to bid on, but it’s best to wait until there are about 15 minutes left before the item closes. Set an alarm on your phone to remind you to go online and bid. Once, there was a bedroom set I absolutely loved and wanted to buy. I forgot, missed the window, and it sold to someone else for $7.
