Teacup was broken and glued back together, with glue oozing out of the sides. This was not disclosed, and the pictures intentionally left out any angles that would have showed the damage. I tried contacting Geneil, who never responded. I'm now going to have to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I feel completely deceived and this was a terrible first experience with this website.

This is by far the WORST auction experience I have ever had. When I arrived for pick-up I was told my items were not available for me because the family had changed their minds and didn't want to sell the items anymore. This was AFTER my items were paid for and the exchange of money was complete. Sunflower Estate Sales did NOT in anyway meet the contractual agreement that they had with me to purchase the items. I am expecting a complete refund within 48 hours.

Buckle up, this is a long one... I bid on an item that was quite expensive. It was something I've been looking for for my dad, who has Parkinson's and is losing his balance so his outdoor activity options are getting more limited. The pickup time was an hour after I got off work, everything seemed perfect. Then I received an email saying the auction and pickup dates and times had been changed. I couldn't make the new pickup time. It was frustrating but I assumed it was something they couldn't change and that they'd work with people who couldn't make the new pickup time so I sent Geneil this email: "I'm bidding on a couple items in the *** estate sale that now closes ***. The new pickup time doesn't work with my work schedule and I'll be out of town until ***, so I was wondering what the options are if I win my bid?". She responded "Sorry, we have to liquidate the house the following day".
I feel like I was justifiably irritated at this point. She changed the terms of the agreement, which in my mind voids it, then made zero attempt to work with me. I sent this email in response: "What action do I take if I'm not outbid? If I don't win then obviously it's not an issue, but if I do then of course it would have to go to the second highest bidder since I'm not obligated to pay. If you want to remove my bids now that would also be acceptable." Geneil never responded.
Next I attempted to directly message AuctionNinja. My message was: "Good morning, I bid on 2 items [have now been outbid for one so at least that one is gone] for an estate sale with a pick up time that worked for my schedule. A few days after bidding I received an email saying the auction had been extended by 2 days and the pick up date had changed. The new time and date do not work for me and the seller is unwilling to make special arrangements. I requested my bids be canceled, and I'm still hoping this will end amicably, but if like to know what my options are if they won't remove my bid?" Apparently AuctionNinja sends these directly to the seller, because I only got a response from Geneil saying "I can't remove your bid but hopefully you get outbid." Again, no attempt to work with me on the pickup time, offer a refund, or anything even remotely professional. My response: "I have contacted my credit card company and informed them that any claims from you are fraudulent. You changed the auction date and pickup time and since you are unwilling to arrange either an earlier or later pick-up, you are no longer meeting the terms of the agreement." I explained everything to my manager who offered to come in and cover my shift so this is the final message I sent Geneil: "I explained the entire situation to my manager and she very kindly agreed to come in and cover for me if I win the bid. I spoke to my credit card company and if there is a charge for the item, it will not be flagged as fraudulent. However, your conduct and unwillingness to work with me has been incredibly unprofessional. If it weren't for the fact my dad has an incurable disease and is losing his balance and ability to do the outdoor things he loves, I would prefer not to do any business with you." Geneil never responded.
I also spoke to an owner of another estate sale business who has been amazing and wonderful every time I bought from them and they said they had never changed an auction end date after it started, and on the very rare occasion a pickup date had to change, they worked with or refunded anyone who could not make the new time. Sunflower Estate Sales decision to change the end date seems to be very unusual and maybe downright shady.
Like I said, this was super long but I felt it was important to share my experience with this company. I don't want someone else to get screwed over by them and I wanted to put the whole exchange on here so future customers could reach their own conclusions. I will never bid on a lot from them again no matter what because it's not worth it and I don't want to support a sketchy business when there's so many good businesses operating on this site. I'd rather give my money to someone with integrity.
ETA: I have seen a few reviews mentioning this company did not hand over an item because "the family decided to keep it." I recently learned that items can be pulled from auction before bidding ends. So best case scenario the family changed their mind in the narrow window between end of bidding and pickup, worst case scenario Sunflower Estate Sales already knows and is hoping the winning bidder doesn't fight back and they can keep the money. Unfortunately I'm inclined to believe the second. Currently they had a slew of 5 star reviews on Google within hours of each other so it's obvious Geneil recruited family/friends to put up fake reviews. One of them is from an immediate family member, for goodness sake!

I bought over 40 items and unloaded them 2 weeks later when I had help. No one gave me an invoice to check off the items. I didn't bring an invoice because all sales always give me a checked invoice. I had no phone service to pull it up either so I left wondering if I had everything.
I drove about 300 miles round trip and when I unpacked the trailer I was missing an antique headboard and a selection of wood pieces. The family who was selling was more helpful helping me locate items than the auction company was. No one called me about the headboard either.
