Joseph Holdcroft was the son of a potter and trained at Wedgwood in Burslem. His career started at Minton, where he was employed until 1865 when he started his own company. His work in majolica was widely celebrated and is now very collectible.
This majolica punch bowl is in the Pond Lily pattern and is a very nice size at 15” x 7”. There is a hairline crack that is stable, but perhaps this bowl has a more useful future as a centerpiece or fruit bowl.
Notes: Great vintage condition
