The Hermit An Oil Painting On Linen By M.J. Kavavanaugh

Here we have a great rendition of ‘The Hermit’ (original artwork was by Salomon Koninck) and this is painted by artist M. J. Kavanaugh.

as noted above the original art piece of the hermit has been a topic of review and many variance over the years. This is a very good rendition of the original art piece. It is painted in oil with the hermit looking on his book.
The background is quite dark behind him, which accentuates his face and features, and in the upper right corner there appears to be, the sunsetting, perhaps near a forest.
There is very good symmetry of the hermits, hand resting up near his temple, and looks quite natural. The artist signature is at the lower right hand corner of this painting.
There is also craquelure on this painting which centers around the hermits, wrist and forearm as well as the background.
The measurements of the painting itself is 16” in length and 20” in height. The overall measurement is 18” in length and 23” in height. Includes a gilded wood frame.
