Margery Soroka(N.A., A.W.S.) 1920-1990 Born in Astoria, New York in 1920, Margery painted in her spare time and studied with Edgar Whitney. She began painting while living in China and enjoyed the challenge and creativity of the medium. She was well known for her compositional work that was visible in her abstraction of objects, color and the value of shapes. In themes that express the subject she was able to unify each work, either using a dominant color or the shape itself. Member of American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, The Salmagundi Art Club, and The Whiskey Painters of America.Margery was fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Russian, Spanish and French.
