Mary Hallock Foote (1847–1938) was an American author and illustrator, born in Milton NY in the Hudson Valley and known for short stories and novels, most from the Western areas of the US. The letter to Mr. Patten, dated 1933, regarding sending him some of her illustrations for publishing. Mr. William Patten had a long term relationship as editor for Colliers Magazine, but unsure if he still worked in this capacity in 1933 when the letter was written. The 3 page letter, in pen and ink, is in very good condition. Provenance: The Thomas and Gail Rockwell collection.
