1841 Monaldi: A Tale by Washington Allston First Edition
Boston: Ticknor and Fields. First edition. Allston was born in South Carolina, but is long associated with Boston. He attended Harvard and studied painting in London with Benjamin West, and is far better known as an artist than a writer. Samuel F.B. Morse was one of his students, and R. H. Dana was among his closest friends. This novel, a tale of 18th century Italy, was originally intended to appear in Dana's Idle Man some 20 years before this publication. A few of the interior pages are loose, but present. Foxing inside from and back cover. Good.
