Item Description

RARE original French NAPOLEONIC breastplate/cuirass, dating to the late 18th/early 19th century [circa 1800+/-]. It has an untouched syrface with rich patina, and showcases the period construction, with blacksmith made sheared bolts tethering the hobnails to the armor. Not something often seen outside of museums. Would have been worn by a cuirassier, and was able to deflect shrapnel and edged weapon strikes. It is 230 years old, an impressive piece of French military armor.
