Taka-Makura from eBay...
Used to support the head raised during sleep, most often by Geishas to protect their intricate hairstyle. During training, young Geishas underwent rigorous training to avoid their hair touching the ground during sleep - wet rice would be spread on the floor around the Taka-Makura pillow by the elders, and would stick to their hair if it comes into contact. All handcrafted from wood with all-wood joints - no adhesive or fasteners or nails used.
Condition: very good.
