Antique French Twisted Wire Basket with French Majolica SUNFLOWER Plate c.1890
This piece is designed so that the bowl shape is created from twisted wires forming Interlocking Circles.
The plate is helping in place with small petal shaped loops.
The handles are formed in the shape of hearts.
It s very well made.
The plate features a large Sunflower Hand painted in shades of green, with the lightest shades on the outside, and the color deepening to an inky navy at the center. There is a small bright yellow spot at the very center.
'The rim and underside are colored in amber.
The plate measures 6 1/2" across.
The basket measures 9 1/2" across, and 11" from handle to handle.
It is 3" deep (not including handles.)
The back of the plate is blind embossed with a makers marks that I do not recognize. Additionally, there are the numbers 291, 9 and the letter L.
It is in outstanding condition without chips, cracks, crazing or repairs.
