Antique Eyeglasses Spectacles Tortoiseshell & 14 K Gold Frames Hard Case Marter Optical Co NYC NY Case

Early 20th Century pair of eyeglasses - tortoiseshell and 14 karat gold (marked on nosepiece), no glass lenses, measures 4 5/8” across front x 4 1/8” front to back with a 1 3/4” x 1 9/16” oval shape.

They come in a hard case, possibly original, that is marked ‘Marter Optical Co., 150 West 72nd Street, New York’. It is made of metal covered with some type of material that is chipped off around the hinge.

Notes: The eyeglasses are in good shape, tortoiseshell not dried out or chipped, gold has minor surface wear but not bent out of shape. Really good condition for the age. They were well cared for and maybe not worn very much.
