1958 Yale Golf Course Wooden Box, Image By Erwin Barrie

The famous Yale University Golf Course designed by Charles B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor box produced by Spalding in the 1950s. These boxes featured different holes, this one showing the 9th, a par three at Yale. The 9th is a classic Biarritz hole that requires a 190 yard carry over water. The artwork on the cover was produced by Edwin Barrie, owner of the Grand Central Art Galleries in New York City. Barrie started creating paintings for Spalding in the 1950s, which were then inset into these boxes. They were sold with two sleeves of golf balls inside. 7.5”w, 5.7”d, 2.1”h.
