Item Description

A six-page valedictory, complete to the farewell for Baker's School. Worded around the phrase 'passing away' Well written. Unknown author. Old repairs using conservation tape, maybe incomplete but ends well at the end of page 6, so maybe not incomplete. The paper is from the mid 1800’s and is about passing from school to life. Well written hand without corrections. A rare glimpse of New England history.
Wikipedia: "Part of West Dennis is known as Baker Town for the Baker family that once resided on and around Main Street in South and West Dennis. The Bakers sent 29 captains to sea, and the Ezra Baker School and the Baker Park in West Dennis are named for family members. Peter Petlz' poem describes the influence the family had in the area:
“The English were prolific,
On Cape Cod's Sandy shores,
And if you don't believe it,
Look at all the Bakers."

Notes: old repairs to separated pages with conservator's acid free tape, toning, some sheets smaller, possibly incomplete, clear and good hand writing of the period. Unknown author
