The upper part includes Huntington, Smithtown, Islip, Brookhaven, most of Fire Island & Oak Island; the lower part includes Riverhead, Southampton, Southold, East Hampton, Gardiners Island & Shelter Island. The upper left part covers Cold Spring, Amityville, Smithtown, East Setauket, Patchogue, Northport, Babylon, Riverhead, Penataquit, Port Jefferson, Freeport, Sag Harbor, Southold, Bridgehampton, East Moriches, Miller Place, Commack, West Huntington, Bellport, Center Moriches, Mattituck, Orient, Southport, Amagansett, East Hampton, Sayville, Southampton, Cutchogue, Aquebogue, Jamesport, New Suffolk, Stony Brook & East Marion. The detail thoughout is extraordinary, by far the most accurate & in depth study of the region in the first half of the 19th century.
