Lockhart managed the NY Rovers who were a farm team for the NY Rangers and briefly coached the team during the 1935-36 season. He introduced on ice entertainment during intermission which included racing model aircrafts and bicycles around the arena, figure skaters, Sonja Henie, even a grizzly bear on roller skates.
Lockhart was honored by the Ontario hockey association with its gold stick for distinguished service, elected to the builder category of the hockey hall of fame, recipient of the Lester Patrick Trophy for service to hockey and inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame's inaugural class of 1973.
The north American hockey league was one of the successor leagues of the EHL and named its championship trophy the Lockhart Cup in his honor. Thomas Lockhart also built The Long Island Arena located in Commack and once again brought sports and entertainment.
In this auction are Thomas Lockhart's yearbooks, programs, autographs and correspondence and lots of other memorabilia from the NY Rovers hockey team including his NY Rovers jacket. We've also got collectibles from the "Roverettes" the girls softball team. Happy Looking!
