Rare 1691 book-- 2 titles in 1. “AN ENQUIRY INTO THE Constitution, Discipline, Unity & Worship, OF THE Primitive Church, That Flourished within the First Three Hundred Years after CHRIST..., By an Impartial Hand" is a two-part book, the first dated 1691, and the second separately dated 1713. It examines the structure, practices, and beliefs of the early Christian church. Anonymous, attributed P. King. [Note t-p oddity: the printer used a K in place of an R in Christ.]

Attributed to Peter King, 1st Baron King, PC, FRS (c. 1669 – 22 July 1734), commonly referred to as Lord King, an English lawyer and politician, who became Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain

Modern leather over marbled boards; expected toning and light foxing. Typographically interesting in that it has extensive passages in Greek type embedded in the text.

The book is an important work of ecclesiastical history and provides valuable insights into the development of Christian doctrine and worship. It explores the origins of the church, the role of bishops and other church leaders, and the structure of worship services. It also discusses issues such as the use of sacraments and the role of scripture in Christian life. The work studies the early Christian church and its practices through a largely Puritan viewpoint and belief in a theology focused on scripture and the teachings of the early church. The book influenced John Wesley and the early Methodist Revivalists.

The first part of the book, published in 1691, was titled "An Enquiry Into the Constitution, Discipline, Unity & Worship of the Primitive Church: That Flourished Within the First Three Hundred Years After CHKRIST". This part of the book focused on the early history of the Christian church, exploring its structure, practices, and beliefs during the first three centuries after Christ.

TOGETHER WITH the second part of the book, published in 1713, which focused on the roles of apostles, prophets, and teachers in the early Christian church.
