Ruth (Emerson) Van Cleve (mid 20th century) was active/lived in New York and spent summers in Martha’s Vineyard painting. Ruth Van Cleve is known for Nude figure painting and still life’s as well as book illustrations.
Ruth (Emerson) Van Cleve studied painting at the Art Students League of New York, producing mostly smaller-scale oils and watercolors throughout her career.Ruth created original concept art for the children's psychiatric ward at Bellevue Hospital. New York City, circa 1940. She collaborated on several children s books with Helen Wakeman and others.
