Item Description

Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments - Lionel Norfolk & Western Steam Locomotive, General Steam Locomotive & The Tender

1999 Lionel #4 - 746 Norfolk and Western Steam Locomotive:
Readily identified by its bullet nose and the bold burgundy band that extended from the front of the locomotive to the back of the tender, the powerful N&W "J" class electric train set was an action-packed version of a freight train that roared through the Appalachian Mountains.
Introduced by LIONEL in 1957, the mighty Norfolk and Western 16-wheeler locomotive is the 1999 entry in this series of Keepsake Ornaments.
Die-Cast Metal. The wheels turn. #4 in the LIONEL Train series. Size: 4 1/8"L

2000 Lionel #5 - Lionel General Steam Locomotive:
Often referred to as "America's Favorite Locomotive", the General (1872) was offered by LIONEL in the 1950s. The original General had become famous on April 12, 1862, when Union soldiers captured the locomotive deep in Confederate territory. Before they could reach Union lines, the engine was overtaken by the Confederates - but not before a thrilling chase covering 87 miles! The story was retold in the film The Great Locomotive Chase, released in 1956. This ornament is made of die-cast metal. The wheels turn. Size: 3.25"L

1999 Lionel Train Tender - 746 Norfolk and Western:
When introduced in 1957, the 746 Norfolk and Western Steam Locomotive was the most powerful in the Lionel line -- "the granddaddy of all steamers". The N&W train was easily recognized by the distinctive burgundy color band that extended from the front of the streamlined locomotive to the back of its tender. Size: 3 1/16" W x 1 1/4" H
