Item Description

Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments - 1968 Murray Jolly Roger Flagship, 1930 Custom Biplane, 1942 Toledo Fire Engine

1968 Murray Jolly Roger Flagship - Cast Metal - Dated 1999:
Paved with waves - an invitation to adventure - that's how city sidewalks would appear to the captain of the Jolly Roger Flagship! This Keepsake ornament recalls the styling of the original three-wheeled runabout, which came with "pedal drive," foam-white finish, "racing red" trim, and surf-blue wheels. A different pedal car from the glory days of the 1930s through the 1960s is featured each year in this series.

1930 Custom Biplane - Die-Cast Metal - Dated 2001:
A golden summer's day... a clear stretch of sidewalk... a dash of imagination - and a young pedal pilot could soar into the "wild blue yonder"! Neighborhood pals, serving as air-traffic controllers, could easily identify this plane by its intense yellow paintjob. Reflecting the interest of today's collectors in customized pedal cars, this biplane is a version of a 1930 single-wing pedal plane originally produced by American National.

1942 Toledo Fire Engine #6 - Cast Metal - Dated 2000:
In the early 1920s, as motorized fire engines began to replace horse-drawn hose wagons, pedal car versions started to appear on neighborhood sidewalks. In 1924, the Toledo Metal Wheel Company offered youngsters one of the most striking fire engine pedal cars ever trusted to protect a neighborhood. The original Fire Engine #6, with its nickel-plated boiler, outshone other pedal cars and rescued its share of stuffed animals from precarious perches. This series of Keepsake Ornaments highlights pedal cars produced from the 1920s to the 1960s
