Item Description

The coin shows razor sharp detailed strike with black watery surfaces and obverse lamination. Image result for what is a lamination error on a coin
Laminations. During the preparation of the planchet strip, foreign materials — grease, dirt, oil, slag or gas — may become trapped just below the surface of the metal. Coins struck from this strip later may begin to flake and peel since adhesion is poor in the location of the trapped material. What does cameo mean? In coin grading, cameo is the amount of contrast between the relief (raised or recessed design) and field (background). Cameo is usually seen on proof coinage, with the relief featuring a frosted finish and the field being mirror-like. Not all proof coins have a cameo effect, however this one certainly does !
