Antonio Gusini was a highly skilled painter whom excelled in Realism and more specifically his still life images with fruit.
Gusini was born in Rome, Italy in 1901 and by 1925 Gusini graduated from Bello Artsy Academy of Rome. From then on, the artist exhibited mostly in Italian cities including Rome, Naples and Milan during the 1960's.
The oil on canvas painting majestically depicts a pair of oranges on a vine with a leaf, together with a lemon with two green leaves behind. The scene is depicted against a dark ground, however the artist has included an intriguing technique in which the fruit reflect of the glossy table they rest on where one can see the lighter reflection of the fruit group just underneath the fruit.It measures roughly 19" wide x 17" long.
