Biography from Askart: Jon Serge Kodwyck was born in 1917 in Haverhill, Massachusetts, and spent his later years in Newburyport, Massachusetts. He was one of six children of Russian parents who had to flee their beloved native country as imperial Russia collapsed.

He was essentially a self-taught artist, although he did study for a time with both Richard M. Gibney and Waldo Pierce.

Kodwyck's work is both regionally and internationally collected, including in many private collections. Essentially abstract imagery, his work displays both the naive and the evocative, and a moral innocence of human feeling.

Kodwyck and his wife, Helen, operated an art gallery on the North Shore in Newburyport in the early 1960s.

He was most prolific during the 60's and 70's when he won many awards. He died in Newburyport, MA, in 2006.
